I heard a saying that resonated with me the other day, I’m not exactly sure who said it “Life can only be experienced in this present moment.” Of course I’ve heard similar sayings, but this time it really sunk in. You can’t change the past and you can’t live the future until you get there, so there is really no point in not enjoying the present moment as much as possible.
Enjoy the Times with Your Kids
Right now, this very moment, your children are the youngest they will ever be from here on. Enjoy that youthfulness, take snapshots with your mind of the way that act, the things they haven’t learned yet, their sticky hands and carefree attitude- they will not always be that way. Enjoy your own youthfulness, too. Run after them, blow bubbles with them, take them on the fast rides.
Make Every moment Count
It’s always easier said than done, but it is possible to make every moment count. Hug your daughter while you watch television. Smile and really pay attention when she tells you about her day. Say “yes” when your son asks you if you want to go outside and play freeze-tag. The dishes can wait until later.
Talk to Kids About Enjoying Life
Kids are still learning how to do life. All of life. This means that you can help influence their attitudes and the way they think and talk to themselves. If they hear you saying that life sucks or criticizing yourself, they will pick that right up and run with it. On the other hand, it they see you being positive and making an effort to get the most from life, that will influence them. Talking to them directly about how good life can be and how life is what you make it can make all of the difference in the life they chose to lead.
