Children can learn valuable lessons from all sorts of different types of people. While the warm and gentle personality type is usually the best accepted, children may benefit greatly from having a teacher that is all business or even a teacher that is a little cranky. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to brush off when your child comes home in tears or becomes anxious about going to school because of their teacher. If your child has come home complaining about their teacher, the following are a few ways that you may be able to help them.
Be a Good Listener
When your child talks to you about how they feel about their teacher, the best thing that you can do is just listen. Lecturing your child may shut them down and make them feel like they can’t talk to you. If the issue is something minor or is something that you know the teacher is right about, find ways to encourage your child to work through their emotions and learn the lesson. Work with aspects of their personality in the best way you can to encourage him or her to be smart/strong/caring and figure out how to get along.
