Be Aware of Potential Bullying
Many kids that suffer from speech impediments are victims of bullying. Having someone comment in a mean or negative way about the way that they say a word or stutter can be traumatic for kids and can cause them to clam up and speak less. This can make it even more difficult to resolve the speech impediment. Being aware of bullying and making sure that your child talks to you about it and that you take steps to make sure a teacher or someone else is paying attention can save your child a lot of heartache.
